The Second Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University (The Second Clinical Medical College) was established on March 27^th , 2003. It was merged into the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University on October 9^th，2003, and converted to the West Hospital of the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University. The hospital started to operate independently and restored the name as the Second Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University on January 1^st, 2017. In more than two years of construction and development, the overall comprehensive strength of the hospital has been improved rapidly. The hospital’sregional influence has been significantly enhanced. In addition, the hospital’s professional and social reputation has been significantly improved. It has become a Grade A Class Ⅲ  comprehensive hospital integrating medicine, education, research and preventive medicine. The hospital is excellent medical resource in Guangxi , the main clinical practice base for Guangxi Medical University, the national standardized training base for residents, the general surgery specialized training base for specialists, the first aviation medical rescue base hospital in Guangxi, the aviation medical rescue training base in Guangxi, the first "national health management model  hospital" in Guangxi, the first batch of national multi-disciplinary tumor (digestive system) diagnosis and treatment experimental hospital, the Guangxi emergency medical quality control center, and the Guangxi pain medical quality control center. I. Hospital Environment and Scale
The hospital is located at 166 DaXue Dong Road, Xiangsi Lake area of Xixiangtang District, Nanning, the capital of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.  It is adjacent to the High-tech Development Zone and surrounded by many colleges and universities, which take good advantage of peripheral environment, such as beautiful view, convenient transportation, weak regional medical resources and unique geographical advantages. The hospital covers an area of 168 mu (including 60 mu of land is in requisition), with overall construction area of 43656㎡. The hospital actually has 1108 beds, and 33 clinical departments, 33 specialized outpatient clinicsand 12 medical and technical departments, and provides diagnosis and treatment servicesincluding specialized outpatient clinics and multidisciplinary consultation of difficult diseases. Emergency department is open 24 hours a day. In 2018, the hospital provided 770,000 outpatient and emergency patients service, including 33,000 discharged patients and 14,000 surgeries. During the 13th Five-Year Plan period, the number of hospital beds will increase to more than 1500. Simultaneously, the Guangxi Mental Health and Rehabilitation Medical Center and Guangxi Clinical Treatment Center for Sudden Acute Infectious Diseases is in construction.
Ⅱ.The staff team and Structure
At present, the hospital has 1,693 employees, 81.9% of whom are medical and technical staff. Among them, 76 have acquired professional titles, 133 have acquired vice professional titles, involving 4 subject chief and special experts. 72 have acquired doctor degree, 10 are doctoral supervisors, 72 are master supervisors, and nearly 90% of clinical doctors have acquiredmaster's degree or above. There are 2 standing committee members and 39 membersin national academic organizations. There are 20 members, 31 vice-chairmen and 49 standing members in provincial academic organizations.

The characteristic and advantageous discipline-emergency department is the president unit of Guangxi medical rescue association and the president unit of Guangxi aviation medical rescue alliance. the emergency rescue force is strong. in 2018, the emergency department established the China-ASEAN hospital cooperation alliance emergency specialist cross-border medical association, which undertakes the rescue task of major public health emergencies and other important medical security task in peripheral region. Meanwhile, the hospital made great efforts to build six brand medical centers (emergency trauma center, minimally invasive surgery center, chest pain center, advanced stroke center, lung cancer diagnosis and treatment center, vertigo diagnosis and treatment center), continuously improve the comprehensive treatment system of multidisciplinary cooperation, and constantly strengthen the discipline construction.

Many characteristic technologies such as trauma first aid (including snake wound treatment), minimally invasive surgery, cardiac radiofrequency ablation, endotracheal interventional diagnosis and treatment in respiratory medicine, vertigo surgical treatment, repair of complex fistula such as tracheoesophageal fistula, digestive endoscopy diagnosis and treatment, critical care (ECMO technology), diagnosis and treatment of psychological diseases, infantile cerebral palsy and severe rehabilitation, and treatment of various chronic and intractable pains are at advanced level in Guangxi region even in China.

Ⅵ.Medical education and training
The hospital attaches great importance to education work and has invested nearly 19 million yuan to build a clinical skills simulation training center equipped with advanced teaching equipment. The clinical medicine specialty is an authorization point for master's and doctor's degrees in first-class disciplines. It is a national standardized training base for residents and a specialized training base (general surgery) for the first batch of standardized training system for specialists. Moreover, the clinical skills simulation training center is a second-stage empirical research base for the phased examination of clinical categories for the national medical examination center's physician qualification examination and a final assessment base for standardized training for residents, which can meet the needs of multi-disciplinary and multi-level skills training. At present, the hospital undertakes professional practice in clinical medicine, anesthesia and rehabilitation, clinical rotation and scientific research guidance for full-time graduate students (master's degree and doctor's degree). At the same time, it actively undertakes the teaching work for ASEAN foreign students, and has received 43 foreign students from ASEAN countries so far.
