The advertising major was established in 1993, the first undergraduate major in Guangxi, which also set an example for other arts college throughout the country. During its more than 20 years' development, “The Department of Advertising” gradually forms the advertising talent training characteristics: "Interdisciplinary, Creativity first, pay attention to medium, and combine theory with practice". It focuses on cultivating the students' application ability of comprehensive development in both advertising strategy and designing aesthetics, sticks to the elementary feature of creative thinking training, enhances their creativity and the whole operation ability of advertising. The department also carries out medium practical teaching, guiding students to apply various media to advertising operation. It forms a practical teaching mode with the core of CIGE(Create, Interwork, Group, Effect), and the two wings of program teaching and socializing the graduation design, which makes a great contribution to the development of advertising discipline and training excellent talents in advertising.
“The Department of Advertising” has advertising major and other four undergraduate majors: creativity designing in advertising, designing of interacting advertising, advertising planning, and media creativity. It also has three postgraduate majors: designing in modern advertising, creativity in advertising planning, study on new media arts. The advertising major has become national level characteristic major, regional level excellent major; its advertising teaching team has won the title of regional excellent teaching group.

Introduction to “The Department of Language Communication”

“The Department of Language Communication” was established in 2008. The faculty members all graduated with M.A. degree from College of Broadcasting & Arts from Communication University of China, with abundant broadcasting or hosting experiences in central and provincial media, and rich teaching experience as well. In addition, the department also has many part-time professors who are distinguished experts and scholars in national broadcasting circle, and they give lectures and instructions in our college regularly.
“The Department of Language Communication” has two postgraduate majors: speech communication, and research on broadcasting & hosting arts; two undergraduate majors: broadcasting & hosting arts, and broadcasting & hosting in Chinese and English. The department has formed the relatively complete talent cultivation system: the main part is undergraduate education, and the development direction is postgraduate education. 影視編導系始建于2008年，目前共有五個本科專業（方向）:廣播電視編導專業、廣播電視編導專業（中英校際合作辦學2+2）、影視攝影與制作專業、攝影專業，以及廣播電視編導藝術碩士專業，形成了集影視創意、攝錄、制作為一體的多學科交叉優勢。

“The Department of Directing in Film & Television” was established in 2008. Currently it has five undergraduate majors(specialties): "Directing in Broadcasting, Film & Television", "Directing in Broadcasting, Film & Television"(China-Britain Interschool Exchange 2+2), “Photography and Directing in Film & Television”, “Cartoon in Film & Television”, “Photography”; one postgraduate major: “Directing Arts in Broadcasting & Television”. It forms the interdisciplinary characteristics with the combination of film & television creativity, videography, and production.

Holding the education theory of combining “production, learning, research, and application”, the department focuses on practice and tries to train the talents in directing film & television, and concentrates on creativity and follows the newest trend in film & television. By setting up the research studio of broadcasting & television arts and the research studio of video and image arts, combining modern facilities and equipment like HD studio, after producing lab, and videography, the department establishes a three-dimensional platform of promoting teaching by needs, promoting research by teaching, and promoting creativity by research.

“The Department of Performing” was established in 2008. The faculties all graduated from the key art colleges nationwide, with abundant working or teaching experiences in drama, film and television. Besides, the department also has many part-time professors who are distinguished experts and scholars in famous theatres, film and television business around the country; they give lectures and instructions in our college regularly.
The major of performing was elected as the characteristic majors of Guangxi Autonomous Region in 2011. The department has two postgraduate majors: creative writing & research on drama performing, and creative writing & research on film, television performing; one undergraduate major: performing. It has formed the relatively complete talent cultivation system: the main part is undergraduate education, and the development direction is postgraduate education.
The department mainly provides creative applied talents who will work in performing, planning, organizing, creative writing of stage, film and television, for social literature and arts groups, arts colleges, arts exhibitions, radio station, TV station, film & television company, performing arts institutions, mass arts and other fields.

“The Department of Literature in Drama, Film & Television” was established in 2011. It has one undergraduate major, one academic postgraduate major and one arts postgraduate major, all with the name of literature in drama, film & television. Now, the department has five teachers: one with post doctoral degree, one with PhD degree and three with M.A degree. They respectively graduated from Communication University of China, Shanghai Theatre Academy, Southeast University, China Academy of Arts and other key colleges and research institutions. The teaching group has balanced backgrounds, rich experience in practice, and excellent research ability. 影視與傳媒學院始建于2007年，初始定名為影視學院，2010年4月正式更名為影視與傳媒學院，下設廣告學系、影視編導系、語言傳播系、戲劇影視美術設計系、表演系、戲劇影視文學系、廣播電視學系七個系部。學院本著“一專多能，綜合培養”的宗旨，堅持藝術與技術、理論與實踐相結合的原則，樹立全新的教育理念，實現不同學科之間的交叉、滲透與融合；強調培養學生的人文修養與綜合素質，著重培養學生專業技能與傳播能力，致力于滿足社會需求的同時引導傳媒藝術的審美方向，進行影視與傳媒內容、形式的創新研究以及影視與傳媒高新技術的綜合運用與研究。

“College of Film, Television & media” was established in 2007, first named “College of Film & Television”, then officially renamed “College of Film, Television & media” in April, 2010. Seven departments are set up under the college: “Advertising”, “Directing in Film & Television”, “Language Communication”, “Art Designing in Drama, Film & Television”, “Performing”, “Literature in Drama, Film & Television，Radio & Television”.
